Painting Progress

a creative sanctuary, finally

I’ve never really made a space a home. Not truly. Not in the way that wraps around you like your grandma’s hug or feels like a deep exhale after holding your breath too long. I’ve moved, I’ve paused, I’ve made do. But this time… I’m flowing with my gut and honoring my spirit by turning this little room into something that reflects me—fully and unapologetically.

I’m creating a cozy, Afrocentric minimalistic space! Soft, grounded, intentional. Think deep tones, ancestral warmth, a touch of plant life, and textures that whisper peace. It’s not about perfection—this process is about self-discovery. It’s wild how decorating has become a creative challenge that’s helped me learn more about myself than I expected.

Bohemian Black Room DIY Painting for Detox Art

decorating has become a creative challenge that’s helped me learn more about myself than I expected.

I used to freeze at the thought of choosing a paint color. Now? I covered every single wall in bold bohemian black—even when others thought it would be “too much.” Guess what? It’s magic. Moody, soft, powerful—like walking into a hug wrapped in rhythm and intuition.

This process has taught me to trust myself, be playful, and follow my gut. If you’re someone who struggles to feel confident making decisions or shaping your own space, this kind of creative work will surprise you. It’s not just about pretty things—it’s about freedom, clarity, and seeing yourself reflected in your surroundings.

Stay tuned—this room is becoming my sanctuary. My spirit’s got the final say, and she’s making it beautiful.
